Friday, Sept 25
8:30-11:30am Guided Forest Walk @ School Field
Meet experts at 8:30 am sharp at the school ball field for a demo on how to properly collect, document and upload specimens to the MycoMap BC project on iNaturalist and send for dna sequencing. We will then split into groups and walk to the Strawberry Point trail at Bamfield Marine Sciences Centre. Bring your fungus collection equipment and rain gear!
Specimens collected during this walk can be dropped off to BFF organizers at the nearby firehall between 11:00am-12:00pm. Organizers can assist with completing submissions and uploads.

4:00-8:00pm Fun(gus) Gathering @ The Bamfield Wreckage, *West Side of Bamfield
Craft Fair, Drinks & Expert Seminars
Join us at The Bamfield Wreckage restaurant on the west side boardwalk (boat access only) for a series of evening talks with our expert mycologists. Check out the craft fair featuring local artists as well as our exclusive 2026 Bamfield Fungus Festival merch.

8:30-11:30am Guided Forest Walk @ Boomer Trail, Tower Rd.
Meet experts at the Boomer Trail lower trailhead on Tower Rd. near the Centennial Park boat launch, where we will split into groups to continue the bioblitz in the Bamfield-Huu-ay-aht Community Forest. Bring your fungus collection equipment and rain gear.
Specimens collected during this walk can be dropped off at the Mushroom ID Workshop at the school at 2:00pm, where organizers and experts can assist with completing submissions and uploads.

2:00-5:00pm Mushroom ID Workshop @ Bamfield Community School Gym
Meet the experts at the school gym for an informative ID workshop in which we sort and identify our entire mushroom collection. Access to microscopes available. Don’t forget to bring any specimens you collected on the morning walk to complete your submissions and uploads to the MycoMap BC project.

3:00-5:00pm Needle Felted Mushroom Workshop with Miss Bumble @ Bamfield Community School Classroom
Make your own needle felted mushroom project with Vancouver Island artist Miss Bumble. Suitable for ages 12+. Spaces are limited, pre-registration is strongly encouraged. Sign in with a BFF organizer at the school lobby.
8:00pm-1:00am Mushroom Dance ft. DJ Sham!ingo! @ The Firehall, 19+
Dress up in your mushroom costume for the best dance party of the year. BFF merch awarded for best costumes.
Our musical guest is Sham!ingo!, a Victoria-based DJ & multi genre artist that blends Middle Eastern sounds with deep house, progressive, and psychedelic grooves. Drawing from his Levantine roots and love for electronic music, Sham!ingo creates sets that move between hypnotic rhythms, warm slow melodies, and high energy dancefloor moments, bringing a unique twist to the underground music scene.
